    On his Mother’s grave headstone in Opotiki Cemetery near Auckland is a Memorial to Fred. This is written on their headstone:

    In Loving Memory of Louisa
    beloved wife of Charles Cranston
    died 4 August 1912 aged 60 years.
    Sleep beloved sleep and take thy rest,
    Lay down thy head upon thy Saviour’s breast.
    We loved thee well but Jesus loved thee best.
    Goodnight, Goodnight, Goodnight.
    Also in Fond Remembrance of
    12/2679 Pte F.A. Cranston,
    Killed in Action in Flanders
    2 October 1917 aged 23 years.

  • In loving Memory to Frederick Arthur CRANSTON youngest brother of my Grandfather Charles Edward Cranston, died 1972 aged 93years, Uncle to my mother Edna Dorothy Morrison nee Cranston, died 2002 aged 91years, Walter died 1970's, Vera Ann Munro nee Cranston died 2007 aged 92years and Frederick Hugh died 1980's. This Tribute is added by myself, Ann Christine Marston nee Morrison, Great Niece to Frederick Arthur Cranston.
