      3 March 1915 - Transferred as a Gunner/Driver - to the New Zealand Field Artillery NZEF - at Egypt.
      Served France (1916-1917) - as a Gunner/Driver, New Zealand Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade, 15th Battery, NZEF.
      Promoted to the rank of Sergeant - New Zealand Field Artillery NZEF - at France.
      Awarded the 'Distinguished Conduct Medal' (DCM) : "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He showed the greatest disregard for his personal safety in tackling and extinguishing a fire which had broken out in the gun-pit. He had on a previous occasion shown great coolness in keeping his men in action through heavy shell-fire" : (Ref: 4th Supplement to the 'London Gazette' : # 1701 : Dated 14 August 1917).
      In 2017 Sergeant Davy's DCM was for sale on the 'Medals for Collectors' website 'New Zealand Medals' : www.nzmedals.com
