  • I remember my grandfather well, we five grandchildren used to pester him for war stories which he was always very reluctant to tell. However, we remember the story of his horse(s) being shot five times from under him at Gallipoli. His diaries from the war have been read by us and are very moving. The war had a huge affect on him, leaving his first wife for my Grandmother, Vera.
