  • To my dear grandfather Archie Ellwood you died long before I was born and I can only imagine what you witnessed suffered and had to endure as a field ambulance officer in France in those horrendous and mostly hopeless conditions trying to save and comfort other men. Thank god you survived. I can only sit back in awe of your strength of character and share will and determination to go on to a normal life marry and have a great family including 2 sons that went on to serve in world war II and another son my father her served in Korea you obviously had a great influence and I can see that strength of character running through my family. Just know I often think of you and your amazing sons especially on Anzac day and am so proud to say your my grandfather - your granddaughter Mary Ellwood
