    • Son of Ada and Albert Everett. Husband of Marcella Adelaide nee Barrett, married 1921

      Embarked for NZ on the Matatua January 1919

      Seven children served from the same family in WW1: three sisters were serving as nurses Claire (22/538) and Dorothy (22/537), and Viola (AIF ); three brothers George Gordon Everett, Gerald Gordon Everett(2/215) Frank Gordon Everett (2/2117) and step-brother, Ralph Watson served as soldiers.

      Embarked for Gallipoli, 12 April 1915.
      Admitted to Ras el Tin Hospital, Alexandria, 8 May 1915 (measles); discharged to Convalescent Camp, Mustapha, 25 May 1915; discharged to duty, 4 June 1915.

      Disembarked Malta, 27 August 1915 (dysentery). Transferred to England, and admitted to Bethnal Green Military Hospital, London, 14 September 1915. Discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 6 July 1916.

      Found guilty, 2 August 1916, of being absent off weekend pass from midnight, 30 July, to 11 am, 1 August 1916: forfeited 2 days' pay.

      Marched into Sling Camp, 9 August 1916.
      Admitted to Bulford Military Hospital, 2 September 1916; transferred to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 13 September 1916; attached to NZ Command Depot, 15 September 1916.

      Admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 20 September 1916; transferred to NZ Command Dept, Codford, 25 October 1916.

      Taken on strength NZ Command Depot, Pay Office, 21 May 1917.

      Transferred to NZ Field Artillery Depot, Royton, 30 May 1917; taken on strength, NZ Field Artillery Reserve Depot, Aldershot, 1 January 1918.

      Proceeded overseas to France, 10 February 1918; posted to 9th Battery, 2nd Brigade, in the field, 15 February 1918.

      Wounded in Action, 10 April 1918 (gun shot wound, right hand: serious; left leg), and admitted to 57th Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 11th Casualty Clearing Station, and thence to Ambulance Train No 19, and admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Boulogne, 11 April 1918. Transferred to England, 13 April 1918, and admitted same day to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames.
      Classified unfit by Medical Board, and placed on NZ Roll, 1 June 1918.

      Admitted to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 25 July 1918 (scabies); transferred to NZ Discharge Depot, Torquay, 1 August 1918.

      Commenced return to New Zealand on board 'Matatua', 21 February 1919; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service on account of wounds received in action), 25 July 1919.

      Total war service: 4 years 346 days (of which 4 years 131 days were abroad). AWMM
    • Gerald Everett was the grand son of former twice Mayor of Nelson - Edward Henry EVERETT (1820-1904). Edward Everett founded the Nelson drapery business "Everett Bros Ltd" which ran in the Nelson, Motueka and Takaka districts from 1864-1913.

      Gerald's father, Albert, was the last owner of Everett Bros Ltd drapery before it was finally sold in 1913. Albert Everett became an apple orchardist at Pokororo, Tasman District. 7 of Albert's children, including his step son Ralph Watson, served overseas in World War 1.     • Gerald was an Old Boy of Nelson College. He attended 1910-1913. Public - Jenifer - Other relative - 21 February 2016 - School List of Nelson College 1856-1924 ; and Nelson College Old Boys' Association.
