  • He was the son of Thomas & Charlotte GAGER (nee Mead). His father was born in Earlscone, Essex, England and came to New Zealand on the ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ in 1874. They had nine children - four sons and five daughters.

On May 16, 1972, at Kamo, dearly loved husband of Ellen Jane (Nellie) and loved father of Royce (Mrs C Weaver, Waikukurau), Selwyn (Whangarei), and Valmae (Mrs H. Rountree, Waipu); aged 82 years. At rest. A service will be held at the chapel of Morris & Morris, corner Bank & Grey Sts, Whangarei, at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday), funeral then leaving for Maunu Servicemen’s Lawn Cemetery.
