  • It meant a lot to me to receive my great-granddad's dress medals, and every time I wear them on my uniform I feel honoured and proud to have them on my chest. His memory and sacrifice for our country, its people and our Queen will forever be remembered throughout the generations. I strive to honour those memories by serving our country in the Navy.

  • He was my grandad and I loved what I remember of him. He had the most amazing and huge vege and fruit garden and as a child, my siblings and I used to graze on the fruits of this garden. He would sit us on his knee and feed us ginger ale. He was born in Dec 1892. Was appointed Auditor Inspector for NZ in Samoa from 1930 for 5 yrs and considered for NZ administrator in Samoa but had to return to NZ as there were no high schools in Samoa for his 4 children. We were and are still very proud of him.
