  • The Museum Library Archives collection hold a souvenir album/autograph book belonging to Sergeant Bernard McGeehan and was donated by his family in 1999. The first page of the book contains the signatures of 'Officers and friends of B. McGeehan 3rd Auckland Regiment, Radio Station, Apia, Samoa'. John Garland was one of those who signed. Reputed to have been one of five members of the NZEF who were in Dublin during the Easter Rising 1916, co-opted to assist in the defence of Trinity College.The five were: 2/1745 Cpl A WDon; 3/1315 Pte J G Garland; 4/666 L-Cpl F H McLeod; 3/1347 Cpl F L Nevin; 12/1523 Pte E Waring.
