AWMM Oct 1916 - Trooper E. G. Gerard-Elsworth, whose name appeared in Saturday's list of killed in action, was a well-known Gisborne young man. He was 29 years of age, and he enlisted with the 8th Reinforcements. Trooper. Elsworth was engaged as a clerk by Mr G. Smith builder. He came to New Zealand from England, some years ago and has no relatives in New Zealand. Recently he had a brother, Captain Elsworth, who belonged to the British Army, killed in action, whilst another brother, Lieut Elsworth is also serving with the British army.
