  • Increased age to enlist, his army age is 25 years 2 months but his actual age was 21 years 10 months

    Married in Wellington on January 1922 Edith Bradley whom he met whilst on leave from the Western front, they had 2 sons Ray and Ken both of whom served in the army and navy.

    Received with his brother Harry Goddard (17/68) 200 acres of land in the Government rehabilitation scheme. It was two miles from the Raetihi township and mostly standing in bush. The brothers struggled to make a modest living by selling small lots of timber and supplying milk from their few cows to Raetihi. They were forced to abandon the land during the recession late 1920's. AWMM
