    Military Medal (MM) AWMM
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations in front of Mailly Maillet on 24th March 1918. With great dash and daring he he led his section towards two enemy machine guns which had been temporarily holding up the advance of his company. He dashed right through the last intended bit of cover to the trench occupied by the enemy, dislodging the nearest machine gunner and capturing the gun. More of the men fololwed his dash, capturing the remaining gun, together with six prisoners, the others of the crews being killed. His courage and example greatly facilitated the forward movement of this flank of the company. AWMM
