Eric was a cheesemaker for the Woodville Dairy Company before joining up. Fighting in Flanders, he received a “Blighty One” wound. Such a wound was serious enough to warrant removal to Britain for recuperation, but not considered fatal. Unfortunately his shrapnel wound became septic and he died of blood poisoning on 31 March 1918. He is buried in Haringhe Military Cemetery, Popringe, Belgium. He is loved and remembered by his extended family, who visit his grave in Europe whenever possible. Public - Maria - Other relative - 27 April 2017 - Family papers, electoral roll
