  • John Fairweather was the son of the late James Fairweather. Native of Monaltrie, Turriff, Scotland.

    Embarked Wellington, 15 November 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 29 January 1917, and marched in to Sling Camp.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 23 March 1917; marched in to Base Depot, Etaples, 25 March 1917; joined 4th Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 25 May 1917, and posted to B Company.
    Attached to No 2 Field Company NZ Engineers, 23 July 1917; rejoined unit from detachment, 6 August 1917.
    Wounded in action, 12 October 1917.
    Court of Enquiry, 25 April 1918, concluded 'Wounded and missing, 12 October 1917'. Finding of Court: 'Killed in action, 12 October 1917'.
