    DR. A. W. IZARD DEAD. MEMBER OF WAR PENSIONS BOARD. FORMER MAJOR IN N.Z.M.C. A medical man who was known by many hundreds of returned soldiers throughout the Dominion, Dr. Arnold W. Izard, died in Auckland yesterday of pneumonia, after a week's illness. He was medical member of the War Pensions Board, which was sitting in Auckland, when he became ill on February 3. Dr. Izard was born in Wellington in 1873, a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Izard. He was educated at Christ's College, Christchurch, and afterwards at Trinity College, Cambridge. From there he went to St. Bartholomew's Hospital. He held the degrees M.A., M.D. and B.C. (Cantab.), also M.B.C.S. and L.R.C.P. (London). After working as clinical assistant at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, he was appointed chief medical office]' at Tonga. He was a civil surgeon during the South African War, and held the rank of major in the New Zealand Medical Corps in the Great War. He was awarded the 0.8. E., and was also an honorary associate of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. He had published various medical papers. Dr. Izard was unmarried. The Hon.
