Such a shame that his photograph of his mate was unlabelled and famously mistaken for Simpson & Murphy, not the real stretcher bearer Richard (Dick) Henderson MM.
More effort should be made to remember this brave Kiwi who would sadly never fully recover from the horrors of his war.
It is encouraging to see finally that the Australian War Memorial have conceded that their picture hanging in the Canberra museum by Moore-Jones was erroneously mounted as Simpson, but this doesn't detract from the amazing work that all these medics did on the Gallipoli hills.

James Gardiner Jackson was my great uncle, the brother of my grandfather, George Finlay Jackson. He was an amateur photographer and while working as a medic at Gallipoli took the photograph of the man and his donkey, which was subsequently copied as the iconic painting of "Simpson (later corrected to Henderson) and his Donkey." The artist was Horace Moore-Jones.
