    Mentioned in Despatches (MiD) AWMM
MiD. Corporal, Auckland Regiment, L.G. 28 May 1918 p6205 (Recommendation 1826 or 1913, 1st BN). North West of Ypres - 23rd October 1917. For conspicuous gallantry in the field. From the 20th to the 23rd inst: while in the line in front of KRONPRINZ FARM Pte Kendall who is a Company Signaller throughout showed most conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was indefatigable in maintaining communications not only with Battalion Headquarters but also with advanced posts. He worked tirelessly day and night in keeping lines in order. Frequently his work was done under very heavy enemy shelling and by day it had to be carried out in full view of the enemy. Such work was possible only for a man possessed of the highest courage and an extraordinary devotion to duty. He worked absolutely without regard for his personal safety and the results of his labours were of immense value to his unit. AWMM
