    Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 10 May 1916; joined 1st Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, Armentieres, 11 July 1916.
    Attached to Assistant Provost Marshal for duty, 12 September 1916; rejoined Bn, in the field, 18 October 1916.
    On leave to United Kingdom, 21 August 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, from leave, 5 September 1917.
    Detached to Divisional Pack Train, 15 September 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 28 September 1917.
    Wounded in action, 17 October 1917 (gun shot wound, nose), and admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance; transferred to 44th Casualty Clearing Station, 18 October 1917; to 54th (London) General Hospital, Etaples, 19 October 1917; to England, and admitted to Lewisham Military Hospital, 27 October 1917.
