  • David Stewart McFarlane, Son of Elizabeth McFarlane, of 29, Valley Rd., Mount Eden, Auckland, and the late James Leash McFarlane. Native of Petone, Wellington AWMM In the hours before his death, McFarlane(24) carried injured 17 year old Trooper Robert James MacDonell, down to ANZAC Cove from a 10 hour fight on Chunak Bair. He returned to his post and was killed. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 in all English translations We, the family of Trooper Robert James MacDonell, are eternally grateful for this sacrifice
