    . Advice has been received by Mr G. D Macfarlane, of Lower Riccaiton, from the Secretary of the War Office, to the effect that his son, Captain A. L. Macfarlane, of the Royal Flying Corps, was admitted to the Seventh Stationary Hospital, Boulogne, on August 22nd ..suffering from severe gunshot wounds in the left leg. Captain Macfarlane is 23 years of ago, and was educated at Christ's College, where he gained both his cricket and football colours On leaving the College he entered the employ of Messrs William Wood and Co. Though holding a commission in a Senior Cadet Company, he enlisted in the Main Body as a private, and fought on Gallipoli until after the Suvla Bay offensive, when he was invalided bock to New Zealand. After two or three months at home ho went back to England and joined tho Royal Flying Corps, in which he quickly established a. refutation as an intrepid pilot. He obtained his captaincy just
