  • My father was Angus William(Bill) MacGibbon and at the conclusion of WW1 my father and my uncle David(Dave) Archibald MacGibbon were requested by their father to report to a 1,000 acre farm at Eastern Bush in Western Southland called Koromiko. David Archibald and their cousin Henry(Harry) John MacGibbon are directly underneath my father on your memorial. My father and my uncle were both awarded the M.M. They continued in partnership until 1950 when the place was divided into 2 farms for their sons Angus(Bill) and Hugh(Dave). They were both community minded and interested in sport especially rugby. My uncle Dave was in the Kiwi team formed after WW1, while my father was prominent in Albion Rugby Club in eastern southland before WW1. Mary Cook(nee MacGibbon)
