    • Francis Flowers was the son of John William and Ellen Flowers, of Puramahoi, Takaka, Nelson, New Zealand. AWMM
    • Francis Flowers was known in the family as Frank. He was one of nine children although he lost 2 siblings early.

His father was John William Flowers and his mother was Ellen Flowers (nee Parsons). His parents farmed at Puramahoi in Golden Bay near Takaka. John Flowers was the son of Jobe Flowers who came to New Zealand on the Will Watch with Edward Gibbon Wakefield, and settled in Pakawau. His wife came on the ill fated Lloyds.

Frank was a farmer in Takaka before the war. He had a motor car, one of the first in the area! It was in his father's shed for years and no one ever drove it.

Frank was always remembered by the family. By his parents (my grandparents) and by his brothers and sisters.

When Frank was killed, a friend Noel Nesbit, was with him when he died. When that friend returned from war he visited John and Ellen Flowers and gave them Franks belongings. This was the first time he had met them and he also met Frank's sister Lena. He and Lena were married and the lived at Puramahoi on the farm for many years.
