  • Embarked for a second time with the 4th Reinforcements, Otago Infantry Battalion, on 17 April 1915, arriving at Suez, Egypt on 25 May 1915.

"Went with the Expeditionary Force to Samoa, and, on returning to New Zealand, again volunteered for active service. He was reported wounded and missing on August 8th, 1915, but private information received since seems to remove all doubt that he was killed in action on that date." (In Memoriam, 1914-1918 [Wanganui Collegiate School])

Served in Samoan Expeditionary Force, 15 August 1914-27 March 1915.
Joined unit at Gallipoli, 8 June 1915, and posted to 14th Company.
    Reported wounded, 8 August 1915.
Report by A.S. Falconer, Acting Staff Captain, NZ Infantry Brigade, 22 September 1915: 'Nothing further is know regarding this man'.
Board of Enquiry, held at Moascar Camp, Ismailia, 22 March 1916, concluded 'Killed in action, Dardanelles, 7 August 1915'. AWMM
