  • Reginald McKinnon was my great-uncle. I never knew he'd fought in the First World War until I found his name and details in these archives. He was from Riverton, and was the brother of my grandfather, John Albert McKinnon. I remember him as a quiet, kindly, rather solitary old man. He never married as far as I know, and died in 1969 at the age of 83. I would love to know more about where he fought. Here's to you, Uncle Reg, and all your comrades. We now have some idea of the unspeakable horrors you all endured, but never spoke of. From your great-niece - Lois
