  • Wounded in action (date not on file: B103 missing) (gun shot wound, left arm, chest: severe); admitted to 14th General Hospital, Wimereux; listed as 'dangerously ill, 9 July 1917; removed from 'dangerously ill' list, 16 July 1917; transferred to England, 27 July 1917, and admitted same day to NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames; transferred to NZ Officers' Convalescent Home, Brighton, 24 August 1917.
    Found by Medical Board to be unfit for service for 6 months, 26 August 1917, and recommended for return to New Zealand.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Devonport on board HMNZT 'Mokoia', 1 November 1917; discharged, 13 March 1918.
    Total war service: 1 year 349 days (of which 1 year 215 days were abroad) AWMM
