    Mine explosion at Arras. He was unconscious for some hours and paralysed till the next morning. He was boarded at Hornchurch 21 July 1916 and the opinion of the Board then was that he could do light duty in two weeks but the symptoms have not improved as quickly as was anticipated (Military Personnel File). AWMM

  • I think of my Uncle Leslie May frequently. I always enjoyed his presence and intellect when in his company. Fishing with him in my chldhood and youth: traveling with him and my Aunt Nellie on the many trips he made as a public works engineer in the North Island. Always journeys of learning and the disciplines of discovering knowledge.

    I always knew he suffered great trauma in the wars and as I reflect on this and family his wisdom Is sorely missed.
