  • If it wasn't for James Mettrick being injured at Gallipoli and becoming a Sargent Major at the camp where the injured New Zealand troops were based in Alexandra Egypt and bringing home to New Zealand a lost 11year old Greek boy who became adopted by the Mettrick family in Blackball on the Westcoast I wouldn't be here today as that boy was my father Ralph Mettrick and Jim Mettrick was my uncle a truly great soldier
