    'During the advance on August 8th, 1918, near Morcourt. Private Murphy showed conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. A forward gun was short of S.A.A, Murphy made several trips backwards and forwards carrying hevay loads of ammunition over very expoaed country contunually swept by enemy Machine Gun fire. He set a splendid example to all." Awarded by Australian Imperial Force AWMM
