    Disembarked Suez, Egypt, 20 December 1915. Taken on strength Otago Infantry Battalion and posted to 8th (Southland) Company, 5 February 1916.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 6 April 1916.
    Appointed Lance Corporal, 22 April 1917.
    Wounded in action, 27 May 1917 (shrapnel wound, right arm); admitted to 9th Australian Field Ambulance and transferred to 9th Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 28 May 1917; admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, 30 May 1917. Evacuated to England on HMHS 'St Patrick' and admitted to 2nd New Zealand General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 31 May 1917. Transferred to New Zealand Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 9 June 1917.
    Discharged, no longer physically fit for war service on account of illness contracted on active service, 3 February 1920. AWMM
