  • Charles Pollock was my grandfather. My mother, Pamela Bunker nee Pollock is his only living child. He was born in 1893 and served from 1914 to 1918. According to my mother, he served in Gallipoli with his brother George (Hori) and was wounded and evacuated to Egypt. On recovery he was returned to Gallipoli only to be evacuated again when he contracted smallpox. He also served in Europe. He was away 5 years and 1 month. On returning from the war he remained living in Gisborne until his death.
