  • Frank Gardner was the son of Mr. J. H. and Mrs. M. E. Gardner, of Otoko, Gisborne, New Zealand. Born at Hull, Yorks, England.

    One of the three last New Zealanders in the New Zealand Division to be killed by enemy action in the First World War. Gardner, along with Gunner Donald Stewart Kennedy and Driver Andrew Mather, were killed by the same shell burst on 7 November 1918. Source: Christopher Pugsley, Le Quesnoy, 2018, p.112. AWMM
