  • Uncle William told me a story about his war service 1914/1918. Gallopli, he said that there was a truce at the end of the campaign for the Troops to evacuate to there Ships, he said they had to march a long way down the beach to meet the boats to take them to the Ships. He said both him and his brother Cecle were about the last in the line, but then the bloody Turks broke there promise not to fire and open fire on them, he said the Pothans were always fast runners and they were the first to the boats to get them off the beach. They both ended up in Desert and both got gassed.
