  • Colin was my first cousin twice removed. His father, Robert William Reaburn (1864-1936), and mother, Sarah Reaburn nee McHugh (1864-1942) moved from Melbourne, Australia in the early 1900's. Sarah worked as surgical belt/corset maker for a surgeon in Melbourne who asked her to accompany him to Palmerston North in New Zealand where he set up practice and needed Sarah's skill set. Robert William Reaburn was a carpenter and the town was going through a building boom so all went well.
Colin and his older brother Robert Reaburn (1891-1918) were young at the time of moving.
Both served in WW1. Colin in the Medical Corp and Robert as a Driver (of horses) in the 9th Battalion.
