  • Son of James A. Adamson and Edith Mary Adamson, of Invercargill.

    He had a BA and an MA from Otago University and taught science at Ashburton High School.

    Private Adamson enlisted as a Sergeant on arrival in Egypt. He gave up his stripes so that he could get into action sooner.

    Private Adamson was reported as Missing in Action 2-24 May 1915. He was killed in action on Dead Man's Ridge (Pope's Hill) in an attack on Baby 700.

    Sergeant F. F. Adamson, reported missing since May 1, went away with the third reinforcements, Otago Infantry. On arrival in Egypt he gave up his stripes and joined the main body so that he could get into the fighting-line sooner. He was born at Pahia, Southland, 23 years ago, and took his B.A. and M.A. degrees about a year ago at the Otago University. He was a teacher of science in the Ashburton High School when he enrolled.
