    Joined the Permanent Force in 1911 and served as a clerk with the Postal Service.

    Returned from Egypt to New Zealand 1916. Appointed Ship's Adjutant on voyage, Tahiti. No history noted for period February 1916 - July 1917. Absorbed into Permanent Staff, service record notes, as an instructor with the New Zealand Army Service Corps from 1 July 1917.
