  • The Distinguished Conduct Medal awarded for conspicuous gallantry on the 24 April 1915 (19 years old) at Gaba Tepe (Dardanelles). During the operations following the landing, Sapper Eric George Scrimshaw, on four separate occasions, went out and brought in, under a very heavy fire, wounded men after all previous attempts to rescue them had failed. He exhibited the greatest bravery and set a fine example of devotion to duty.
