    Captain of Otahuhu Football Club. Won several medals for shooting.

    New Zealand at the Front ( a magazine written and published and illustrated in France by men of the New Zealand Division) 1917 issue, page141.

    Embarked Wellington, 7 December 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 18 February 1917, and marched in to Sling Camp, and reverted to the ranks.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 14 March 1917; marched in to Base Depot, Etaples, 17 March 1917.
    Admitted to Segregation Camp, attached to Base Depot, Etaples, 28 March 1917.
    Joined 2nd Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 2 June 1917.
    Reported missing, 7 June 1917.
    Court of Enquiry concluded 'Missing and wounded; believed Killed in action'.
