Trooper James 'Jimmy' Sinton Regt No. 9/966 N.Z.E.F.

James Sinton, better known as Jimmy, was born in Tiniroto near Gisborne NZ in 1894. He was the youngest son of early Scottish pioneers Robert and Agnes Sinton. He became a fine horseman, and took great pleasure in taking on horses that no one else could handle.

He took great pride in what he did, and was in no way put off by obstacles he encountered. Rather like the time that he stowed away on the ships to join the Great War effort after being told that he was too young to enlist...

He died in the last days of 1995, at the age of 101, making Trooper James Sinton one of the last veterans who served at Gallipoli to pass away. The Sinton family have a long history of answering the call of duty for their country, and may well have established a record for a family serving in international conflicts. The CD comes with a booklet that gives you an insight into what James went through, and although this song is not about James Sinton alone, it does represent the many men and boys just like him.

    Lest we forget. Public - Lorraine M - Researcher - 20 February 2016 - http://gallipolisong.com/photo-info.html
