    are the same person.
    TP Smith deserted the NZEF in Egypt in June 1915 and made his way to Melbourne where he enlisted 24th Sept. 1915 in the A.I.F. under the name Peter Smith. In January 1916 he was in France. In July 1916 awarded the MM. Wounded at least three times. He served in the A.I.F. for three years and 10 months and discharged in May 1919 with nine entries on his conduct sheet. In May 1919 he volunteered for the British North Russian Relief Force Machine Gun Corps and there gets a bar on his MM and served for two years. He arrived back in New Zealand in May 1923.
