    • A BRAVE MAORI. - LIEUT. .STAINTON’S RETURN

      AUCKLAND, Dec. 7. Among the passengers by the Ruahine was Lieut. W. H. Stainton who was awarded the military cross for services in the field. He was a member of The first Maori contingent and saw service in Gallipoli, whence he was invalided to Britain, afterwards going to France, where he took part in the Somme fighting, and for which he was decoration was conferred.
