  • Great uncle Len died at Messines Ridge 31/7/1917 100 years ago.No known grave-just a name on the Memorial at Messines Ridge Cemetery-one of nearly 1000 Kiwis on this Memorial..One cannot help to ask what for,and all jingoism aside it seems to me such an utter waste of his,and 18,000 other Kiwis lives that were lost .One can only speculate what his life may have been had he come home.
