    Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force in France, 6 April 1916.
    Detached for duty with 2nd Australian Tunnelling Company, 17 October 1916;rejoined unit, 16 February 1917.
    On leave, 20 June 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 2 July 1917.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 7 July 1917; transferred same day to 10th Casualty Clearing Station (pleurisy); to No 1 Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, 12 July 1917; to England, 24 July 1917, and admitted same day to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst; attached to strength of NZ Discharge Depot, Torquay, 5 October 1917.
    Classified unfit by NZ Medical Board, 15 October 1917, and placed on NZ Roll.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Plymouth on board HT 'Tainui', 2 November 1917; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service on account of illness contracted on Active Service), 31 January 1918.
