    • Sept 1915 - Amongst the members of the Maori Contingent, recently reported killed in action were Whare Baker of Waipiro Bay, Rawiri Taewa of Tuparoa, and Hauraki Waiti Waipiro Bay, whilst Hori N. Te Awarau, who died of pneumonia, also belonged to Waipiro Bay.
