    Found guilty, 21 August 1914, of neglect of duty by allowing alcohol aboard transport (HMT Moeraki); reprimanded.
    Embarked for New Zealand from the Samoan Garrison, 10 March 1915; discharged, 22 March 1915.
    Posted to E Company, 25th Reinforcement, with the rank of Private.
    Promoted Corporal, 10 February 1917.
    Posted to Featherston Details, 13 April 1917; posted to F Company, 24th Reinforcement.
    Embarked on board 'Pakeha', 14 April 1917; disembarked England, 18 April 1917; embarked on board 'Pakeha', 26 April 1917; marched in to Sling Camp 28 July 1917, posted to A Company, 4th Reserve Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment and reverts to Lance Corporal.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 5 September 1917.
