    Embarked Wellington, 25 July 1916; Devonport, England, 3 October 1916, and marched in to 5th Reserve Bn, Sling Camp.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 20 October 1916; marched in to NZ Base Depot, Etaples, 21 October 1916.
    Joined 1st Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 4 November 1916, and posted to A Company.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 22 March 1917 (mumps); transferred to 7th General Hospital, St Omer, 23 March 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 11 April 1917.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 22 April 1917 (measles), and transferred to 53rd Casualty Clearing Station; to 7th General Hospital, St Omer, 23 April 1917; discharged to Details, 2 May 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 13 May 1917.
    Attached to NZ Wing, XIII Corps Reinforcements Camp, 9 October 1917; rejoined Bn, 26 October 1917.
    Appointed Lance Corporal, 27 December 1917.
