  • I have what I believe is called the King's Certificate for Charles Cleal Ward, who was honorably discharged after four years of service in 1918. I believe it was awarded to those discharged through wounds or disability through war action. I have done some research to try and find his descendants but ultimately have had no luck. As far as I can tell, he only had one daughter, who died childless. I have not got the death certificates for either Charles or his daughter so am yet to confirm this. I believe he was originally from Melbourne and so may have some family there.

I bought the certificate from a charity shop for the frame, which is beautiful and has lasted well, so I'm guessing his family were proud of his service. When I saw what the frame contained I couldn't remove it and now have it hanging on my wall, until I find a family member who will cherish it as much as I.
