    Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, France, 9 April 1916.
    Admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 24 June 1916 (diarrhoea); rejoined Bn, Hoplines, 29 June 1916.
    No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 8 July 1916 (debility), and transferred same day to NZ Division Rest Station; discharged, and rejoined Bn, 10 July 1916.
    Appointed Lance Corporal (unpaid), 25 July 1916.
    Commenced return to New Zealand on board HT 'Paparoa', 1 April 1919; discharged (no longer physically for for War Service on account of wounds received in action), 22 June 1919.
