  • Name incorrectly S.B. Bain in the Auckland Weekly News 1915.

    Eldest son of John and Margaret Bain. Moved to Wanganui in 1914.

    Reported missing 21st August 1915 at Chanuk Bair and presumed dead 8th August 1915. He is commemorated on that memorial. No remains were located.

    His next in line brother James, (JIM) had died of enteric fever on 5th August on the hospital ship 'Rewa', he has no grave either as he was buried at sea. A third brother George survived four years of war.
