  • George Griffiths was the son of T. Griffiths, of Patetere, Okorire Springs, Rotorua Line, New Zealand.

    Embarked Wellington, 10 October 1915; disembarked Egypt, 18 November 1915.
    Joined Western Frontier Force (to suppress Senussi uprising), 21 November 1915.
    Admitted to No 15 General Hospital, Alexandria, 3 January 1916; rejoined unit, 10 January 1916.
    Proceeded to Ismailia, 17 January 1916.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 6 April 1916.
    Found guilty, 11 June 1916, of being absent without leave; awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2.
    Detached to Railway Construction Party, 8th Corps, 17 January 1917.
    Died, 8 March 1917 (heart failure caused by acute alcoholic poisoning).
