  • Great Uncle Arthur. Remembering your sacrifice and death 9th February 2018 KIA - somewhere in France/Belgium.it It is not known where you are buried but you are not forgotten. Your decision to volunteer to fight at the age of 19 resulted in my grandfather Bert Hall - your older brother - choosing to remain in the theater of WWI when he was about to be medically discharged and return to Aotearoa/New Zealand. Your three brothers Tom, Joe and Bert all returned to Aotearoa/New Zealand. You are remembered. Anzac Day 2018.

  • Thank you so much Gwen for updating Arthur's record. Always aware of the ultimate price he and his (our) family paid for his valour. Vale Great-Uncle Arthur Hall.
    Public - Alison - Other relative - 24 April 2017
    Report
  • In loving memory of Arthur Hall of Gapes Valley, Geraldine, South Canterbury who died on the battle field of the Western front, 9/2/1918 aged 20 years. Much loved brother to our Grandmother Elsie Green (Hall) and their 13 brothers and sisters. You sacrificed your life for future generations and would not have known that your 3 older brothers were able to return home to their family. Your service continues to be honoured today. A portrait of you in uniform and your Victory Medal remains with the family. Although your final resting place was never known, one day the family will pay our respects to the memorial for your and your fallen comrades in Belgium. Lest we forget.
