      Reported killed in action 21 September 1916. news officially reported 8 November 1916 POW in Germany.

      Transferred to Switzerland for internment 8 January 1918. AWMM
    • Oct 1916 - Private H. J. Poole, reported wounded, left Gisborne with the 9th Reinforcements. He was foreman for Messrs C. Aickin and Sons, timber merchants. He is a stepbrother of Mr C. Percy, who is employed, by the Waikohu County Council and who was invalided home from Gallipoli, where he was wounded and where another brother of Private Poole's was killed in action.
